Thursday is a special Saibaba day. As a special Thursday parayan (holy book reading), in the Love of Shirdi Sai Baba parayan group, every Thursday we are given one chapter from Sri Sai Satcharita, the holy book of His life and teachings of truth and vedanta... the book of His holy word. The same chapter is given to all parayan group participants. Each of us is to read, understand, assimilate and then post that learning on the group.
Today, being Thursday, we were given Chapter 45 of Sri Sai Satcharita. Baba wants me to share the explanation that came from Him and the understanding I had of chapter 45 with you all…
This chapter states the principle of the path of Devotion to Guru…
Gurur Bramha, Gurur Vishnu
Gurur Devo Maheshwarah
Gurur sakshat ParaBrahm
Tasmai Shri Gurave Namaha
Guru pulls us out of even the impenetrable darkness of ignorance that blinds us, opens our eye of true knowledge and gives us the realization of divine truth.
Nothing above and beyond the Guru do we ever need. Na Gurur adhikam!
Under His grace we only surrender all of ourselves to Guru’s feet and look up to Him and Him only. We chant His holy Name and consciously employ all our faculties to serving the Guru with all of ourselves, our time and resources.
We respect other gurus but our master, our father is our Guru, this never changes, and nothing changes this. We remain at His feet with complete faith and patience, serving Him as He ordains, without a doubt or question. In time Guru picks us up and unlocks for us the treasure of divine truth.
Sai Baba as the perfect One did the impossible that only the Holy One can. Neither do we need to do what He does, nor can we yet as unripe beings. We stay where we are in the journey of life and on the path of evolution, in complete faith. We neither pester Sai for more nor try any methods ourselves. He knows, He is in charge, just leave everything up to Him. Whatever He gives us, His anger, solace, love, grace, temporal and spiritual gifts… we accept as His prasada (holy blessing). Everything is His, nothing is ours, He is the Doer and the Owner in us. That’s all.
Whatever we have and wherever we stand in life, regardless of how we feel about it, is meant for us, for our highest good. We stay with that. We do not compare with or covet others’.
Why fear when Sai is here!
Guru Kripa hi kevalam (Guru's grace and mercy are all we need)
Dhyaana-Muulam Gurur-Muurtih
Puujaa-Muulam Gurur-Padam |
Mantra-Muulam Gurur-Vaakyam
Mokssa-Muulam Guruur-Krpaa ||
Meaning:
The Root of Meditation is the Form of the Guru,
The Root of Worship is the Feet of the Guru,
The Root of Mantra is the Word of the Guru,
The Root of Liberation is the Grace of the Guru.
All the above and myself of, for and by Baba alone.
Om Sai Ram
